SOLUTION 01 · BENDING FORCE
Bending Force Calculator
Estimate air-bending load from your material, sheet thickness, bend length and V-die opening before reviewing machine and tooling choices.
BENDING FORCE CALCULATOR · 01
Estimate the load before discussing the machine.
Choose a material example or enter its tensile strength. Results are preliminary estimates for air bending, not approved machine or tooling capacities.
Enter the actual sheet data and use the result to prepare a focused equipment and tooling discussion.
Early planning estimate; not authorization to operate or size equipment.
Calculation basis and limits
F(kN) = 650 × S² × (L / 1000) / V × (Rm / 450)The coefficient is 650 for a 450 MPa mild-steel reference, scaled by the entered tensile strength. Length is converted from millimetres to metres; one metric tonne-force equals 9.80665 kilonewtons.
This does not calculate a safe die opening, minimum flange or inside radius. Verify these from the material and tooling data; bottoming, hemming and coining are excluded.
ENGINEERING REVIEW
Turn an estimate into a workable bending plan.
Share the material certificate, representative part drawing, required bend geometry, and target output. GWMT can then review the calculation alongside tooling, loading, machine configuration, and safety requirements.
